Support the Prayers for Police Program

For every officer, the ultimate protection.

Prayers for Police was founded during the civil unrest of 2020. Vicki Mosher, who had been praying over scriptures for members of the LMPD, transferred those scriptures onto easy-to-carry cards to show her support. When the LMPF became aware of Vicki’s cards, they asked her to join them. The cards are carefully designed to fit into the pockets of the LMPD uniform and are also distributed to local organizations and churches so civilian community members can support our officers, and each other, through prayer.

Real Lives. Real Stories.

The Prayers for Police Program serves as an inspiration to our officers and a tangible means of support from our community members. But don’t just take our word for it.

“Not everybody can do this job. It is a calling. It’s definitely a calling. How you respond is faith-based.”
Tim Thompson, LMPD Officer
“We support Prayers for Police because we believe church happens outside the walls of the church, out in the community. Not inside this building on Sunday morning.”
Tom Smith, Middletown United Methodist Church Pastor

The Impact it’s Making

Initially, Vicki printed 100 Shield Prayer Cards to distribute to the LMPD. As of 2024, Prayers for Police has printed over 32,000 cards in nine languages and distributed cards in 33 states and 20 countries. The program has been successfully implemented throughout the LMPD and other local police departments. In addition, Prayers for Police now distributes cards to children’s homes, hospitals, fire stations, schools and assisted-living facilities.
